The Ladies Man originated as a sketch from Saturday Night Live created by Tim Meadows. Tim plays Leon Phelps a late night call-in show where he administers advice to those not as blessed as he in the love area. After these sketches became popular and appeared on numerous episodes with hosts like Helen Hunt and Cameron Diaz, but what gave Leon a lot of media buzz was when Monica Lewinsky appeared in a sketch. Recurring popular sketches on Saturday Night Live tend to become films, like Coneheads, Wayne's World, It's Pat, Night at the Roxbury, Superstar,(all of which I encourage you to rent/buy) and now Ladies Man. Ladies Man the movie has managed to get some other big stars into the film, like Karyn Parsons, Billy Dee Williams, Kevin McDonald, Tiffani-Amber Thiessen, Lee Evans, and SNL cast member Will Ferrell. But Tim, who has been on SNL for 9 and a half years, has left the show, and will now be appearing on The Michael Richards Show (premeires October 24 on NBC).
4/19/00: WOW! I can't believe I haven't updated for this long. Accept my apologies! A lot of things have happened since the last update, such as the Michael Richards Show being terribly reviewed and getting canceled, and the Ladies Man's DVD (which must be bought by all!) has been released. For those without DVD players: you can rent it, but can't buy it on video quite yet!
